Every business seeks a sales increase, and that’s why they use marketing. But does your business use the right marketing strategy? Marketing has two main strategies when it comes to convincing the customer, Inbound and Outbound. So, what’s the difference?

Outbound marketing or what we used to call “push” marketing, is the tactics that you use to message a large audience to make a sale, and most may not even be looking for your product. This what we call One-Way Communication and it costs you more and you can’t measure its ROI especially if you were using traditional marketing tools such as television or radio or broadcast ads.

On the other hand, there is Inbound Marketing; this strategy is where you start thinking more about how your customer lookalike. Inbound marketing needs more work, going through these steps will help you attract more potential customers:

1. Creating your target audience “Segmentation”
2. Build your Buyer Persona.
3. Plan your “Targeting” methods.
4. How will you “Positioning” your product?
5. Then, from the buyer persona, identify where the potential customers search for their needs.

For example, if they go searching, then start with “Keyword Research” and build a list of keywords relevant to your business, which potential customer uses when they search for what they need. Those words will help you target your audience in your search campaigns, such as Google AdWords.

Inbound marketing can be easily measured, tracked and less costs less. It is a Two-Way Communication with your customer, that’s why knowing the customer well and get familiar with his behavior is the first step to target him in the right place with the right tool and content.

Always Think in your customers and get to know them by research, Act to their preferences and give them what they need with honesty and transparency and this will make you Lead the market.

Remember that customer behavior has changed since the beginning of the digital era, he becomes more powerful, expecting more, high expectations, and less loyal. Outbound is not effective anymore, you need to start to be there when he looks for what he needs, make him always find you when he searches.
